Take your dog to work

Today my Mom brought me to work with her here at the Humane League. I thought “Oh great, a whole day to be top dog and be petted, given treats and get lots of attention!” You see I have one brother and two sisters (all Pugs) at home as well as some of those purring furry characters, also known as cats, so it was great to get some extra attention today. Actually, I guess you could say that coming to work today was a reward for being so good during my photo shoot. I had all of these great pictures taken by Ole, who owns PhotOle. We all went to Clipper Stadium, where the Trot will be starting this year, and I got to get my picture taken in different places all over the stadium and the ball field. Pretty cool, huh?
If you like my pictures, you should come to the Humane League this Sunday from 10am-12pm. Ole will be here and you can get your dog's portrait taken! You will get a 4x6 full color photo to take with you and you will also be entered into the Tailwagger's Trot Cutest Pet Photo Contest. Your pet's portrait will be on display for all to see and vote on at the 2009 Tailwagger's Trot on Sunday, October 11 at Buchanan Park. The cost for your pet's portrait is just $15.00. This includes the $5.00 entry fee for the photo contest! No appointment necessary, but pictures will be taken on a first come, first serve basis, so dress your pet up, brush his fur, and get here early!

Hanging out with my sister, Pickles

Today I am kicking back, enjoying the nice weather, and hanging out with one of my sisters, Pickles. (I am on the left in this picture and Pickles is on the right.) We love to wear fun bandannas and lay around outside, soaking up the sun! In fact, I was outside earlier this afternoon playing "chase" with Pickles. Actually, this is a little embarrassing but I will admit that Pickles was chasing me, because, as my mom says, "I don't have a lot of 'get up and go' on my own."

One thing is for sure, though, I am excited about the Tailwagger's Trot. I think this is going to be an event that is definitely worth getting off the couch for. I can't wait to see all of the other dogs who will be there and I heard there is going to be some great entertainment-there's even going to be a DJ at registration! So, if you haven't signed up already, just go to www.firstgiving.com/hllc, where you can register online!

Hi Everyone

Hi, it’s me “Bacon,” the 2009 Tailwagger’s Trot Mascot. I think you have probably already read my story on the Humane League webpage, but just in case you haven't, you can follow this link to catch up on the history of my life and how I was rescued by the Humane League. Now, listen closely and I will share a secret with you as to how I came about being the Mascot. You see, those clever folks at the shelter wanted someone who would fit into the Barnstormer’s shirt that they purchased at the Team Store and I was the lucky winner. I think the fit is pretty good, don’t you?
